Yeats Mare Rises To The Challenge Over Hurdles
Hudson Yard (7m Yeats - That’s Moyne, by Flemensfirth) overcame driving rain and a long lay-off to win the mares’ maiden hurdle at Exeter on Tuesday.
Bought by owner Aidan Devaney after winning her sole start for Ciaran O’Brien, Hudson Yard stepped up to two miles and seven furlongs on her first start for the Jamie Snowden stable. She made all under Gavin Sheehan, who pushed the bay along from three out and despite showing signs of inexperience on the run-in, kept on to score by two and a quarter lengths, with another eight lengths back to the third horse.
Hudson Yard adds to the recent success of her dam That’s Moyne, whose son Noble Yeats (Yeats) finished a promising third in a Leopardstown bumper over the Christmas period, having finished a close second at Ballindenisk on his only previous start. The pair were bred by Mrs Kristene Hunter.
