Yeats Mares Complete Notable Double At Fairyhouse
Party Central (5m Yeats - Itsalark, by Definite Article) gained a well-deserved black-type victory when justifying favouritism in the Listed mares bumper at Fairyhouse on Saturday.
Bought by Noel and Valerie Moran after her impressive debut for Roger McGrath, the daughter of Yeats went on to finish second at Listed level, but was denied a clear run when suffering a narrow defeat in a Grade 2 in February.
Success was straightforward on Saturday, with Jamie Codd producing her to challenge approaching two furlongs out and led soon after. Keeping on well, she scored by a length and three quarters, as Mollys Glory (Fame And Glory) ran on in second.
Speaking after the race, winning trainer Denise Foster said, “Party Central is absolutely lovely and the world is her oyster. There is a Grade 3 for her in Punchestown and she'll make a lovely novice hurdler next year.”
Bred by Frank Motherway and Kevin Curtin, Party Central is a half-sister to Grade 3 winner Craigneiche (Flemensfirth), who finished second in the Coral Cup at Cheltenham last time out.
The fast-finishing Lady Breffni (7m Yeats - Time To Shine, by Pivotal) began a super Saturday for Yeats when winning the Grade B Novice Handicap Hurdle for under Danny Mullins.
The valuable success marked a second win this season for Willie Mullins’ charge, who previously won a bumper for Joseph O’Brien and between the flags for Dermot McLoughlin. Owned by Mark Dobbin, she was bred by TJ Adams.
