American Pharoah Daughter Impressive On Debut

American Pharoah’s juvenile filly American Rockette (2f American Pharoah x Rocket Twentyone, by Indian Charlie) wasn’t shy about showing her talent at Saratoga on Thursday with an easy 2 ½ length victory.

The Frank Fletcher homebred was slowed down by her inexperience early with a few problems out of the gate but under the expert hands of Junior Alvarado got herself righted and on the winning path quickly. The filly raced near the back of the field and had over eight lengths to make up coming into the final quarter of the 5 ½ furlong dirt race but had more than enough talent to get it done.

She bared down on the leaders from the far outside and with a sixteenth left easily had the lead and Alvarado wrapped up on her to let the filly race horse easy as she pleased.

American Rockette is trained by Hall of Famer Bill Mott, who also trained her multiple graded stakes winning half-sister Frank’s Rockette with that mare’s wins including a victory at Saratoga in the Grade II Prioress Stakes.

Their Grade III winning dam Rocket Twentyone has also produced the stakes placed duo of Rocknroll Rocket and Firewater Rocket from her four foals. The mare visited American Pharoah’s fellow Triple Crown winner Justify last year.

American Rockette is one of three juvenile winners for her sire this year with that group already including the stakes placed E Z Pharoah.
