As Time Goes By Romps to Victory For American Pharoah

Regally-bred As Time Goes By (3f American Pharoah x Take Charge Lady, by Dehere) became American Pharoah’s newest winner when she romped home to a four length win at Los Alamitos.

The Bob Baffert trained filly raced in midpack early on in the six furlong race when well in hand. Drayden Van Dyck took her outside horses in the turn and the filly easily rolled on by to have the lead soon into the stretch. As Time Goes By was never put under pressure as she easily galloped to the four length victory with fellow American Pharoah runner My Happy Girl finishing third.

Owned by the Coolmore partners and bred by Orpendale and Chelston, the filly has never finished worse than third in her three starts. She is the eighth winner from nine to race for three-time Grade I winner Take Charge Lady, who is also the dam of champion Will Take Charge and Grade I winner Take Charge Indy.

One of the best families in the world, Take Charge Lady is also the granddam of champion Take Charge Brandi and three-time Grade I winner Omaha Beach in addition to Grade I-placed Courage Under Fire.

Last year’s Champion Freshman Sire, Triple Crown winner American Pharoah leads all freshmen by number of Grade I winners with two, Grade I stakes horses with three, graded stakes winners with six, and stakes winners with 10 in 2020 alone.
