Conacher 10th Winner for Maximum Security
Conacher (2g Maximum Security x Tocco, by Smart Strike) became the 10th winner for Maximum Security on Saturday with a maiden victory at Woodbine.
Making his third start in the one-mile synthetic race, the juvenile went off as the favorite for good reason. Another horse opened a few lengths on the field and Conacher was happy to be a clear second with the rest of the field far behind him.
It wasn’t until the half that Conacher started to make his way toward the leader and the rest of the field also closed in at that point. The field swarmed the pacemaker with three furlongs left to run and Conacher was joined by another horse in a battle for the lead before finding another gear.
Leading by five lengths going into the final furlong, Conacher extended that even more to have a seven-length advantage at the finish.
Trained by Kevin Attard for the Canuck Racing Club, Conacher was bred by Dr. Brett Anderson and Kyle Anderson in Ontario out of winning Smart Strike mare Tocco.
That mare is a half-sister to dual Grade I winner Coil and Grade I winner Chiropractor in addition to the Grade III placed Decorating and stakes placed Ellyb and Nevercry. This is also the family of Champion Turf Filly Possibly Perfect and multiple graded stakes winner and Grade I placed Tenfold among others.
This is the third winner in a week for Maximum Security with none winning by less than seven lengths.
