Curly Larry and Mo Another Keeneland Winner for Mo Town
Curly Larry and Mo (2c Mo Town x Marialua, by Maria’s Mon) became the latest Keeneland winner for his sire on Saturday with a 1 ½ length victory at the track in a Maiden Special Weight.
Racing over a mile on the turf, Curly Larry and Mo was sent to the lead to set the pace and did his job well with a clear margin on the second-place horse. When challenged as he turned for home, he worked determinedly to keep it and kept his head in front throughout the run to win by 1 ½ lengths.
Trained by Caio Caramori for George Sharp, the juvenile has raced in tough company this year with Maiden Special Weight runs at both Saratoga and Keeneland.
He as bred by Hidden Lake Farm and Donna Bernhard in New York out of the Maria’s Mon mare Marialua, who is now the dam of seven winners from 10 to race. One of her daughters is also the dam of stakes placed Eskendar.
This is also the family of Grade I winner Confidential Lady and Grade III winners Honolua Storm and Drilling For Oil among others.
Mo Town had a successful Saturday at the track with Colt Rock also finishing third in a Maiden Special Weight at Charles Town Saturday night.
The sire of two stakes horses, Mo Town’s 13 winners are joined by 16 other placed runners for a 61% placers to runners rate from his first crop.
