€80,000 Mahler is pointer to follow

It is not just in Ireland that Mahler has been making a big splash in point-to-points, Graham Roach’s Bugsie Malone (5g Mahler-The Irish Whip, by Presenting) looked a name to note when scoring on his debut in Britain.

The five-year-old, an 80,000 euros store purchase bred by J Harding, was nominated as a pointer to follow in the European Bloodstock News on Thursday after his victory in a 16-runner maiden at Bratton Down in Devon under Will Biddick.

Trainer Jack Barber, whose stable often serves as a nursery for champion handler Paul Nicholls, commented: “He came in late and was green and will improve.”
