American Pharoah being led

Fairyland Leads Mares In Foal To Pharoah

Less than two months after selling American Pharoah’s daughter out of Leslie’s Lady for a record $8.2 million at the Keeneland September Sale, Clarkland Farm re-invested in the stallion when buying Fairyland in-foal to the leading First-Crop Sire for $700,000 at Keeneland’s November Breeding Stock Sale.

A speedy stakes placed daughter of the brilliant Scat Daddy, Fairyland finished second in the Bolton Landing Stakes at Saratoga as a 2-year-old and made over $100,000 in her career.

Consigned by Denali Stud and bred to the sire for her first foal, Fairyland is out of a half-sister to Japanese Champion Agnes Digital and two other stakes winners in addition to Grade I placed Reach For The Moon.

American Pharoah proved to be a popular covering for buyers with stakes placed Giant's Causeway daughter Retro selling for $500,000 to Candy Meadow Farm. Consigned by Darby Dan, the 4-year-old is out of Grade I placed Grace Anatomy, who is a granddaughter of Grade I winning Plenty Of Grace. There are stakes horses under each of Retro's first four dams with Champion Soaring Softly also found in the family.

American Pharoah is off to a dream start at stud with 20 winners and four stakes winners to lead all First-Crop sires. Siring his first Breeders’ Cup winner over the weekend with Four Wheel Drive, American Pharoah is the sire of nine stakes horses overall including three Grade I placed runners.
