Gleneagles Juvenile Impresses On Debut
Dornoch Castle (2c Gleneagles - Crown Light, by Zamindar) emerged as a useful type when making all to win Saturday’s seven furlong Novice Stakes at Haydock.
Charlie and Mark Johnston’s newcomer was well-supported in the market and gave little reason for concern throughout. Making all under Cieran Fallon, he was shaken up approaching the two furlong marker and pushed clear a furlong later. Running on well inside the final furlong, he was eased down to win by three lengths and three quarters, as previous winner Coco Jack (Wings Of Eagles) drew eight lengths clear of the third horse.
Dornoch Castle is owned by John Brown and Megan Denis. Bred by Tinnakill Bloodstock and Ian Thompson, the son of Gleneagles provides an important update for his yearling half-sister by Footstepsinthesand.
