Heaven Help Us (Yeats) Wins The Coral Cup At Cheltenham

Hennessy In Heaven As Yeats Mare Conquers Cheltenham

Heaven Help Us (7m Yeats - Spare The Air, by Trans Island) delighted connections and racing fans alike when storming home to win the Grade 3 Coral Cup on the second day of the Cheltenham Festival.

One of just two horses trained by her breeder Paul Hennessy, the John Turner-owned bay produced a career-best performance to win a valuable Grade B hurdle last time out. The progressive mare had run at Cheltenham twice before; she beat the boys on her hurdle debut as a five-year-old and finished mid-division in last year’s Supreme Novices’ Hurdle.

She led from start to finish on Wednesday, throwing large leaps throughout and quickened approaching the turn for home. Nine lengths clear at the final flight, she stayed on strongly up the hill and maintained her advantage to the line under Richard Condon.

“She is just amazing,” a thrilled Paul Hennessy said after the race. “We bred her, she was born at home and I've raised her. The places she has brought us are just ridiculous. She's my Enable.”
