The Yellow Clay (Yeats) Wins The Grade 3 Monksfield Novice Hurdle

Son Of Yeats Draws Clear In Grade 3 Novice Hurdle

The Yellow Clay (5g Yeats – Winning Indian, by Indian Danehill) remained unbeaten over hurdles with an impressive performance in the Grade 3 Monksfield Novice Hurdle at Navan on Sunday.

A Listed winner and second in a Grade 1 in bumpers, Gordon Elliott’s charge drew nine lengths clear on his hurdle debut earlier this month and was sent off a short-priced favourite to follow up at Navan. Racing in touch under Jack Kennedy, the Bective Stud homebred was travelling well when leading before the final flight and drew clear on the run-in to win by 10 lengths.

“He will even have learned from that,” the winning trainer commented. “I would imagine we will go for the Grade 1 Lawlor's of Naas Novice Hurdle in January. He has a great attitude and a great way of racing.”
