Onward Route (Yeats) Wins The Novices Hurdle At Hexham

Impressive Son Of Yeats Gains Deserved Win

The lightly-raced Onward Route (8g Yeats - Just Stunning, by Presenting) made all to run out an impressive winner of Saturday’s Novices’ Hurdle at Hexham.

Placed in three bumpers, the Rebecca Menzies-trained bay was placed in all but one of his previous starts over hurdles, but was absent for most of his seven-year-old career. Sent off favourite at Hexham, he was going best of the field with two flights left to jump and drew clear from the last, keeping on to score by seven lengths.

There should be plenty more to come from the John Wade-owned winner, who was bred by John O’Brien.
