Fringill Dike (Mahler) Wins His Second Novice Hurdle At Hexham

Improving Son Of Mahler Follows Up In Style

The progressive Fringill Dike (5g Mahler - Credo Star, by Presenting) followed up last month’s smart success with an impressive victory in Saturday’s Novice Hurdle at Hexham.

Successful in a bumper on his sole start last season, the Jedd O’Keeffe-trained chesnut chased home a Listed winner in February and was last seen scoring by six and a half lengths over Saturday’s course and distance. Sent off favourite to follow up under Sean Quinlan, he raced prominently throughout and drew clear approaching the final flight, going on to score by nine and a half lengths with ease.

Owned by Caron and Paul Chapman, the son of Mahler was bred by Cathal Ennis out of Credo Star, whose Walk In The Park gelding sold for €75,000 at last year’s store sales.
