Justify Filly Leads Coolmore-Sired Fasig-Tipton Offerings

It’s another milestone moment for undefeated Triple Crown winner Justify on Tuesday when his first yearling goes through the ring at the Fasig-Tipton July yearling sale.

A half-sister to American Pharoah’s stakes-placed son Man Friday, Hip 149 is offered by Baccari Bloodstock and was bred by Narola, LLC. The filly is out of Grade I winner Emma’s Encore, who is also a half-sister to stakes placed Bertha Jo.

The filly has Grade I Kentucky Derby form on both sides of her family with 2006 Kentucky Derby winner Barbaro also among the many stakes winners listed on the page.

Justify is joined by fellow Grade I-winning Scat Daddy son Mendelssohn as those with first yearlings in 2021.

The winner of the Grade I Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf sees three go through the ring, starting early with Hip 15 from Machmer Hall on behalf of Stoneriggs Farm. The filly is a granddaughter of stakes winner and Grade I-placed Pinch Pie, who is one of four stakes performers for her own dam.

The Breeders’ Cup has been a fruitful place for the filly’s family with her fourth dam’s son Volponi joining Mendelssohn and his half-sister Beholder as winners of Grade I races at the meet thanks to his Breeders’ Cup Classic win.

Mendelssohn’s Hip 42 saw an update added to her page recently when her dam’s half-brother Glacial finished third in the Grade III Bashford Manor. Glacial is a three-quarter brother to Ashford’s own Cupid, who is a half-brother to this Paramount Sales-offered filly’s granddam.

Her granddam is also full sister to multiple graded stakes winner and stakes producer Fiano Romano and a half-sister to Grade III winner Ashley’s Kitty and stakes winner Indianapolis. Hip 42 was bred by Rose Hill Farm and John Trumbulovic and is the second foal out of the winning Lemon Drop Kid mare Laquesta.

Mendelssohn’s final offering enters the ring as Hip 176 from Warrendale Sales. The half-sister to three winners is out of a full sister to Giant’s Causeway’s multiple graded stakes winner Winning Cause and a half-sister to stakes-placed Ventry Bay. Others in the family include Grade I winners Emerging Talent, Summer Love, Refuse to Bend, Media Puzzle, Rich Tapestry, and Go and Go.

Rounding out our three freshman sires is Uncle Mo’s dual surface graded stakes winner Mo Town with five offerings.

Mo Town kicks off the sale with Taylor Made consigned Hip 4, who has seen three of her siblings add updates to her page since the catalog was released. Out of Tale of the Cat mare Cat’s Garden, The filly is out of a half-sister to Grade I winner Forest Secrets and two other stakes performers with three of her dam’s half-sisters also producing stakes performers.

The Oklahoma-bred filly from Rusty Roberts’ program is also the granddaughter of a half-sister to champion Silverbulletday.

Out of stakes-placed Pardonmecomingthru is Hip 63 from Eaton Sales. The filly is a half-sister to two winners and her dam is a half-sister to three other stakes performers, led by Grade II winner Postponed. Bred by Michael T. Barnett, the colt’s third dam is multiple graded stakes winner and Storm Cat half-sister Chapel of Dreams, who has seen multiple daughters and granddaughters produce stakes winners.

Vinery Stud consigns Hip 67, a half-sister to stakes winner Tiz Lately bred by Todd and Chad Frederick and Phoenix Farm and Racing. Their winning dam Prevention has seen all 10 of her foals aged three or older make it to the track with eight of them winning. Prevention is a half-sister to stakes winner and Grade II-placed Turn Away and stakes winner Averted View with three other stakes placed runners among her siblings. There are multiple stakes winners under this filly’s third dam as well, led by multiple Grade I winner Defensive Play.

From the family of multiple graded stakes winner Crafty Shaw is Hip 179 from Ballysax Bloodstock. The colt bred in Ohio by Smokin C LLC is a grandson of stakes winner and multiple Grade II-placed Her She Kisses, who is also a half-sister to Crafty Shaw. Another one of their siblings is Intensify, who is the dam of Lookin At Lucky’s Grade II winner and multiple Grade I-placed Money Multiplier and Grade II winner Intense Holiday.

Mo Town’s last through the ring is Hip 336 from Brandywine Farm. The gray colt saw an update last month when his juvenile half-sister placed at Woodbine on debut to give his dam All Day Donna two top three finishers from three to race. His granddam is a half-sister to multiple stakes winner As You Like with his fourth dam the Grade I winner A Kiss For Luck, whose descendants include Grade I winner Alphabet Kisses.

The one-day Fasig-Tipton July Sale kicks off at 10:00am on Tuesday July 13 to start the 2021 North American yearling sales season.
