Lots To Like About Debut Winner By Yeats

Ms Agartha Yeats (4f Yeats - Benny’s Fagartha, by Beneficial) displayed an attitude to match her talents when making a winning debut in Sunday’s maiden hurdle at Wexford.

Hugh Paul Finegan’s newcomer was ridden patiently by Sean O’Keeffe, who asked the bay to make headway from three out. Racing wide turning for home, she leapt into the lead at the next and soon drew clear €140,000 purchase Abbeydale. Rallying to the line, Ms Agartha Yeats led by a neck at the finish, with the pair drawing 14 lengths of the field.

“It wasn't unexpected,” the winning trainer later revealed. “She is a hardy little mare and anything she does, she does it easy. We are a small little team and couldn't be overly confident.”

Ms Agartha Yeats is owned by the Syndicate, which includes breeders Phelim and Mary Sheridan. The daughter of Yeats provides an important update for her half-brother by Soldier Of Fortune, who sold for €50,000 at last year’s foal sales.
