Marketsegmentation (American Pharoah) wins the Sand Springs Stakes Gulfstream Park

Marketsegmentation Another Stakes Winner for Pharoah

Grade III-placed Marketsegmentation (4f American Pharoah x Lonelily, by Medaglia d’Oro) added a stakes win to her five-race record on Saturday with a victory in the Sand Springs Stakes.

Racing 1 1/16 miles on the Gulfstream Park turf, Marketsegmentation raced just under three lengths behind the leader in the tightly packed field as the favorite as they made their way around the firm turf course. Asked to move a few paths wider turning into the stretch, Marketsegmentation was given her cue to go after the front runners and determinedly dug in to get the job done.

It took much of the stretch for her to get her head in front but as they flashed under the wire, she had a neck advantage on the next runner for her third victory in five runs.

A $200,000 Keeneland November weanling purchase by De Meric Stables from James Keogh, the Marcus Stables-bred is trained by Chad Brown for Klaravich Stables.

Marketsegmentation is one of two winners out of Medaglia d’Oro mare Lonelily. That mare is out of a half-sister to champion and successful sire Fasliyev and Grade III inner Kamarinskaya. Another one of those half-siblings is Butterfly Cove, the dam of champion Misty For Me.

A half-sister to another champion in Ballydoyle, Misty For Me is the dam of three stakes winners, including champion and Coolmore Ireland stallion U S Navy Flag.

Marketsegmentation is the 33rd worldwide stakes winner for Triple Crown winner American Pharoah and one of 64 stakes performers by the stallion. The sire of six Grade I winners, American Pharoah’s stakes winners have come in seven different countries.
