Fairyhill Run (Mahler) Wins The Mares Maiden Hurdle At Ballinrobe

More To Come From Mahler Mare After Maiden Hurdle Success

Fairyhill Run (5m Mahler - Flite, by Flemensfirth) produced a smart performance to win Sunday’s Mares Maiden Hurdle at Ballinrobe.

Placed in three bumpers last season, the John Patrick Ryan-trained mare made a promising start to her hurdle career when finishing third at the track last month. Dropping back in trip on Sunday, she raced prominently under Danny Mullins and asserted with four flights left to jump. Ridden approaching the final flight, she ran on strongly on the run-in to win by four lengths.

Speaking after the race, the winning trainer said, “She's a nice mare, a winter type. She's just a galloper and was big and weak last year. I had a very good mare in Mystery Stowaway that I lost recently and this one has the potential to be another.”

Owned and bred by Thomas Meagher, Fairyhill Run is out of hurdle winner Flite (Flemensfirth), while her granddam was Grade 3 placed.
