Extrapolation (Mahler) Wins The Bumper At Downpatrick

Promising Son Of Mahler Draws Clear In Bumper

Extrapolation (6g Mahler - Harvard Girl, by Westerner) made all to run out an impressive winner of Friday’s bumper at Downpatrick.

The son of Mahler won a Ballycrystal maiden for Shane Donohoe before joining Richard O’Brien and shaped with promise when finishing second and fourth on both his previous starts in bumpers. Partnered by Eoin O’Brien on Friday, he led from flag-fall and boasted a five length advantage two furlongs from home. Shaken up a furlong out, he drew clear to win by ten lengths.

“He's a lovely horse,” the winning trainer said after the race. “He had run two very good runs on testing ground - I thought that was a very tough bumper in Clonmel. He's a horse we could try on the Flat, maybe the amateurs' race in Galway.”

Bred by Mr H McDaid, Extrapolation is owned by Michael and Joan Toomey.
