Smart Prospects Complete Double For Mahler

Ballycoose (4g Mahler - Highly Presentable, by Presenting) made it two from two on Tuesday when landing the two mile maiden hurdle at Ayr.

The Stuart Crawford-trained chesnut made a winning debut in a Down Royal bumper in May and was well-supported on his trip to Ayr. Chasing the leaders under James Bowen, he disputed from two out and was ridden to lead on the run-in. Pushed out to the line, he beat the favourite Parisencore (Walk In The Park) by a length and a quarter, with another eight and a half lengths back to their nearest rival.

Owned by Simon Munir and Isaac Souede, Ballycoose was bred by Kenneth Parkhill and kicked off a smart double on the day for Mahler, with Chanceux (5g Mahler - Granny Mc Cann, by Westerner) recording back-to-back wins at Plumpton.

An impressive winner last month, Alastair Ralph’s charge was sent off favourite for the two mile Novices’ Hurdle and was ridden to make all by Nick Scholfield. Drawing clear approaching the final flight, he kept on well to win by six lengths.

Owned by RSKM Bloodstock, Chanceux is the first foal bred by Anthony McCann out of Granny Mc Cann.
