Sioux Spirit (Sioux Nation) Wins Her Maiden At Navan

Smart Sioux Nation Filly Wins Maiden In Style

Sioux Spirit (2f Sioux Nation - Scarlet Pimpernel, by Sir Percy) led home a 1-2 for Sioux Nation in Thursday’s five furlong maiden at Navan.

The Ken Condon-trained filly finished a promising fourth on debut last month and improved to finish a close third at the Curragh next time out. Sent off favourite on her third start, she chased the leaders under Billy Lee and was ridden from two furlongs out. Running on strongly to lead inside the final furlong, she scored by two and a quarter lengths, as Pop Star (Sioux Nation) kept on in second.

“Sioux Spirit is a nice filly and her sire Sioux Nation is going well,” the winning trainer later said. “It was pleasing in how she was strong hitting the line and she might be one who runs in the Blenheim Stakes or something like that. We think she's quite useful and hopefully there's more to come from her.”

Sioux Spirit becomes the first winner bred by Pat Beirne out of the mare Scarlet Pimpernel.
