Son Of Camelot Draws Clear To Maiden Victory
Ruler Legend (3g Camelot - Avenue Dargent, by Kendargent) made all to record an impressive maiden success in Saturday’s Rated Race at Naas.
Runner-up on his sole two-year-old start, the Fozzy Stack-trained bay was beaten just half a length on his three-year-old return and was sent off favourite to go one better under Declan McDonogh. His nearest market leader Shark Bay (Australia) delivered a challenge three furlongs out, but the favourite asserted entering the final furlong, running on strongly to win by five and a half lengths.
“I thought Ruler Legend did it well,” the winning trainer said after the race. “He's a big galloper and will probably get a mile and a half. He could be an Ulster Derby horse or something like that.”
Owned by Boniface Ho Ka Kui, the son of Camelot was bred by Roberto Cocheteux-Tierno.
