Hiawatha (Camelot) Wins His Maiden At The Curragh

Son Of Camelot Forges Clear To Maiden Victory

Hiawatha (2c Camelot - Attire, by Danehill Dancer) kicked off a fantastic four-timer for Ballydoyle at the Curragh on Saturday when running out an impressive winner of the Coolmore Arizona Irish EBF Maiden.

The full-brother to Luxembourg was sent off favourite for the mile contest, having finished a close second on both of his previous starts, each time drawing clear of the third. Ridden to make all by Ryan Moore, he quickened after the three furlong pole and was ridden clear approaching the final furlong. Keeping on well, he won by a comfortable three and a half lengths.

Speaking after the race, the in-form Aidan O’Brien said, “He came forward from his first two runs. He’s a fine big horse and should progress from two to three. He’s in the Goffs Million Sales race.”

Bred by BV Sangster, Hiawatha is owned by Mrs John Magnier, Michael Tabor, Derrick Smith and Westerberg. As well as being a full-brother to Group 1 victor Luxembourg (Camelot), the son of Camelot is a half-brother to Group 2 scorer Leo De Fury (Australia).
