Son Of Camelot Raids German St Leger

Prydwen (6g Camelot – Honey Hunter, by Shamardal) kicked off a notable double for Camelot on Sunday when pouncing late in the 140th Deutsches St Leger at Dortmund.

George Scott’s charge has been enjoying a successful period, with three valuable wins to his name this year, and was seeking a maiden Stakes win in the Group 3 feature. Tracking the leaders under Callum Shepherd, the bay was ridden to challenge two furlongs from home and dug deep to head Tres Rock Women (Australia) on the line.

The pair finished two lengths clear of the third, with another three and a half lengths back to the favourite, three-time Stakes winner Alessio, in fourth.

Owned by Blue Starr Racing and Keith Breen, Prydwen now has ten wins and over £270,000 in earnings to his name. Camelot celebrated a Group winner shortly after, when Bluestocking landed the Group 1 Prix Vermeille.
