Thunder (Mahler) Wins His Maiden Hurdle At Tramore

Son Of Mahler Not For Catching In Maiden Hurdle

Thunder (5g Mahler - Oddly Presented, by Presenting) made all to run out a clear winner of Saturday’s maiden hurdle at Tramore.

Trained by John Patrick Ryan for owner/breeder Thomas Meagher, the son of Mahler stepped up to two miles and five furlongs on his second start over hurdles. Ridden by Danny Mullins, he boasted a clear advantage from an early stage and was never challenged, crossing the line 11 lengths clear of the field.

“Danny gave him a wonderful ride,” the winning trainer later commented. “He is a nice horse to go novice hurdling with.”

Ryan also trained Thunder’s full-sister Presenting Mahler (Mahler) to win eight races and gain black-type over fences. A full-sister to the pair is catalogued in the upcoming Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale.
