Lakota Brave (4g Sioux Nation – Cartographer, by Henrythenavigator) took a step forward on his second start to run out a commanding winner of Tuesday’s Novice Stakes at Newcastle.

Archie Watson’s charge finished a promising third earlier this month and stepped up to a mile on his second attempt. Tracking the leader under Hollie Doyle, he was ridden to lead approaching the final furlong and quickened well to win by two lengths and three quarters.
