Son Of Yeats Captures Grade 3 Chase At Auteuil
Grade 1 winner Figuero (5g Yeats - Annaland, by Saint Des Saints) returned to the winner’s enclosure in Tuesday’s Grade 3 Prix Ingret at Auteuil.
The Francois Nicolle-trained bay raced towards the back of the field for much of the two mile and six furlong chase and chased four rivals entering the straight. Staying on strongly from the final fence, he scored by three lengths under Angelo Zuliani.
Tuesday provided the Jacques Detre-owned Figuero with the fourth black-type success of his career; the most significant of which came by 30 lengths in the Grade 1 Grand Steeple-Chase over course and distance. Bred by Thierry Cypres, the son of Yeats has won six of his 11 starts.
Later that afternoon at Warwick, the Nick Gifford owned and trained Jungle Prose (5m Yeats - Spring Baloo, by Definite Article) made a winning return in the mares’ bumper.
Ridden to make all by James Davies, she was asked to quicken from over two furlongs out and stayed on gamely to hold off Kayarnah by a length and a quarter.
Bred by Stephanie Hanly, the daughter of Yeats becomes the first winner out of Spring Baloo, herself a half-sister to the top-class Oscar Whisky (Oscar).
