Son Of Yeats Confirms Promise Between The Flags
Brief Ambition (5m Yeats - Kentucky Sky, by Cloudings) gained a well-deserved victory in Sunday’s Five-Year-Old Maiden at Bellurgan Park.
The Peter Flood-trained bay (pictured with connections) was placed on both his previous starts and was sent off favourite of seven runners. Chasing the leaders under Anthony Fox, he took closer order from the fourth last and led from the second last. Racing clear, he beat On Term’s by four lengths.
Bred by Mr T. Wood and owned by the Pioneer Racing Partnership, Brief Ambition was bought for €36,000 by Aidan O’Ryan and Chris Donnelly.
The Robert Tyner-trained Thoor Castle (6m Yeats - Valleya, by Linamix) completed a double for her Castlehyde Stud sire when winning at Dromahane.
Having finished a promising fifth on debut in January, she was once again partnered by Declan Queally, who roder her to lead from the fifth fence. Extending her advantage from the second last, she beat Pellady by two and a half lengths.
Owned by Martin Cullinane and bred by Patrick Cullinan, Thoor Castle is out of a winning full-sister to Grade 2 winner Valiramix.
