Son Of Yeats Lands Competitive Grade 3 Chase
The Francois Nicolle-trained Figuero (4g Yeats - Annaland, by Saint Des Saints) gained his second black-type success on Tuesday when taking the feature race at Auteuil, the Grade 3 Prix The Fellow chase worth €135,000.
Successful at Listed level in May, the bay was last seen in May, when finishing fifth in a Grade 1 over course and distance of two miles and six furlongs. Partnered by regular rider Angelo Zuliani, he raced keenly behind the leaders until halfway, from which he asserted and jumped well out in front. Challenged by Grade 1 winner Feu Follet in the straight, he was ridden out to prevail by three lengths on the line.
Figuero was bred by Thierry Cypres, who owns the four-time winner with Nicolle and Jacques Detre. He is the best performer produced by Annaland, an unraced half-sister to two black-type horses.
Yeats commands €5,000 at Castlehyde Stud.
