De Rasher Counter (Yeats) winning the Grade 3 Ladbrokes Trophy Chase at Newbury

Son Of Yeats Secures Valuable Grade 3 Prize

A terrific round of jumping saw De Rasher Counter (7g Yeats - Dedrunknmunky, by Rashar) rewarded with a valuable win in Saturday’s Grade 3 Ladbrokes Trophy Chase at Newbury.

Stepping up to three miles and two furlongs for the first time, he was ridden to chase the leaders by Ben Jones and led with four fences left to jump. Staying on strongly, he was driven out to win by a length and a half. It marked a third win from seven starts over fences for the bay, who began his career with Elizabeth Lalor, for whom he won a point-to-point and bumper.

Now trained by Emma Lavelle for the Makin’ Bacon Partnership, De Rasher Counter was bred by Karina Casini.

Conflated (5g Yeats - Saucy Present, by Presenting) completed a smart double on the day for Castlehyde Stud sire Yeats when running out a five length winner of the maiden hurdle at Fairyhouse.

A bumper winner last season, the Gordon Elliott-trained bay finished third last time out. Jack Kennedy held him up and took closer order from the third last, running on well to lead from two out and stayed on strongly on the run-in.

The Gigginstown House Stud-owned winner was bred by the Dillon family and sold as a store for €92,000, having cost €46,000 as a foal. The son of Yeats is closely related to Grade 1 chaser Ordinary World (Milan).
