Origami (Sioux Nation) Wins Her Maiden At Down Royal

Speedy Sioux Nation Filly Strikes On Second Start

Origami (2f Sioux Nation – Saiddaa, by Hard Spun) took a step forward on her second start to land Friday’s five furlong maiden at Down Royal.

Joseph O’Brien’s representative raced in touch under Dylan Browne McMonagle and was pushed along from two furlongs out. Switched left approaching the final furlong, she was ridden soon after and ran on well to lead close home. She went on to score by half a length, with the front pair finishing five lengths clear of the favourite in third.

“She shows lots of speed,” said the winning rider. “Once I angled out, she quickened up really well and was well on top at the line. She's a very straightforward filly, genuine and still progressing.”

The daughter of Sioux Nation is owned by Justin Casse and was bred by Myles Sunderland.
