Stroud Goes To £300,000 For Sioux Nation Filly

A Sioux Nation filly provided consignor Danny Donovan with a terrific return at the Goffs UK Breeze-Up Sale when selling to Stroud Coleman for £300,000.

Expectations were high after the bay clocked the second fastest time on Tuesday and in advance of the sale, Donovan said, “We were keen to buy a Sioux Nation at the sales last year as he doesn’t have many two-year-olds to run for him this year. But, look, the stallion speaks for himself and this filly’s full-sister is quite a good filly in France.”

Donovan saw his hopes realised as Antony Stroud went head-to-head with Alex Elliott in the sales ring. After successfully securing the daughter of Sioux Nation, Stroud revealed his purchase was made on behalf of KHK Racing, with a trainer yet to be decided.

“She looks like she’s ready to go on with,” the agent said. “When you come here Royal Ascot is the aspiration. The reality is you get them home and then the trainer makes a plan and goes from there. I’ve had a few by Sioux Nation; he’s a very solid, good stallion, who can get you a very good horse.”

The £300,000 purchase hails from the third crop of Sioux Nation, who led the 2023 second crop sire table with seven Group winners and 12 Group performers.
