Talented Son Of Yeats Makes Perfect Start Over Fences
Useful hurdler Lord Accord (6g Yeats - Cush Jewel, by Executive Perk) made a bright start to his chasing career when landing the Groundshore Cup Novices’ Handicap Chase at Uttoxeter.
Successful on his sole start in a bumper, Neil Mulholland’s charge also won twice over hurdles last season and was last seen winning a Class 2 contest in May.
Partnered by Richard Patrick on his chase debut, the bay jumped well throughout and was asked to quicken from the third last. Digging deep approaching the final fence, he led on the run-in and ran on well to win by a length. The favourite claimed runners-up honours, with another three parts of a length back to three-time chase winner Dog Of War (Soldier Of Fortune) in third.
Owned by Lynne and Angus Maclennan, Lord Accord was bred by Olive Troy.
