Tiz The Law Colt Impressive on Debut at Aqueduct
It was a debut victory for Tiz The Law’s Tiz Dashing (2c Tiz The Law x Breaking Beauty, by Into Mischief) on Friday with a win at Belmont at the Big A.
Starting his career going six furlongs on the Aqueduct turf in the Maiden Special Weight, the colt broke well before racing a few paths off the rail in midpack. Jockey John Velazquez started urging the colt around the turn to convince Tiz Dashing to get more involved and once he clicked into gear, he quickly closed in.
Halfway down the stretch, the leaders yielded and Tiz Dashing flew past with just one horse sticking with him. That horse tried to put in a serious challenge, but Tiz Dashing kept his neck in front throughout to win by a neck with every other horse at least six lengths behind.
Just like his sire, Tiz Dashing is trained by Barclay Tagg for Sackatoga Stable. Bred by Camas Park Stud, Tiz Dashing was a $215,000 Fasig-Tipton November sale weanling purchase by his racing owners from Hunter Valley Farm.
The colt is out of a winning Into Mischief half-sister to Group III winner Quetsche and Grade III winner and Grade II-placed Osidy with eight winners overall produced by his German champion second dam Que Belle.
Tiz The Law’s 11 winners this year is third best among all freshman sires with his two stakes winners putting him second in the group.
