Tophill Low (Walk In The Park) Wins The Maiden Hurdle At Thurles

Walk In The Park Mare Not For Catching At Thurles

Tophill Low (6m Walk In The Park - Kapricia Speed, by Vertical Speed) took a step forward on Saturday to win the two mile maiden hurdle at Thurles.

Trained by Lorna Fowler for P Davies, the €75,000 store purchase finished a promising third to subsequent Listed winner Hunters Yarn (Fame And Glory) on her second start and was reunited with Kieran Buckley at the weekend. Leading from the early stages, she was pushed clear from the second last and kept on well to score by four and a quarter lengths.

“Tophill Low was taken to a schooling race where we let her go in front and she settled really well,” the winning trainer late explained. “Some kind of penny really dropped since last time and she has become really professional. We have no doubt she has ability but we just have to get it right with her.” Looking further ahead, Fowler added, “We'll look for black-type for sure and she is a chasing type who has already schooled over fences.”

Bred by Grange Stud, Tophill Low is a half-sister to Grade 3 winner and Cheltenham Festival second Barney Dwan.
