The Player Queen (Yeats) Wins At Musselburgh

Yeats Mare Rallies To Continue Fine Record

The Player Queen (6m Yeats - Seductive Dance, by Groom Dancer) dug deep to record her fourth win from five starts at Musselburgh on Sunday afternoon.

The Rose Dobbin-trained bay dropped back to two miles for the mares’ novices’ hurdle and was ridden to chase the leaders by Craig Nichol. Pushed along from three out, she produced her challenge at the second last and was ridden to lead from the final flight. Keeping on well on the run-in, she held off Oot Ma Way by a short head on the line, with another three and a quarter lengths back to the favourite in third.

The Player Queen won her first two starts for Mel Rowley in a point-to-point and Class 2 bumper at Cheltenham, before selling to current connections for £140,000. Now owned by Mr and Mrs Duncan Davidson, the daughter of Yeats was bred by John Dwan and John Brennan.
