Yeats Mare Wins Maiden Hurdle En Route To Galway
Miss Fourie (6m Yeats - Present Venture, by Presenting) built on a promising seasonal return to justify favouritism in the Mares’ Maiden Hurdle at Bellewstown on Saturday.
Successful in a bumper last year, she returned from a significant lay-off last month to finish second in a similar contest and made most of the running at the weekend. Shaken up at the final flight, she was ridden out to beat Jumping Susie (Walk In The Park) by a length and three quarters.
Speaking after the race, winning trainer Peter Fahey said, “She had a lovely run in Wexford and she came on a bit from it. It is great she got that out of the way and more than likely she will head on to Galway now for something.”
Owned by Ms Aisling Molloy and bred by Mrs Aisling Leer, Miss Fourie is a full-sister to dual winner Son Of The Somme (Yeats).
