Trainer John Oxx can head into the winter with big hopes for next season after Takar (2c Oratorio-Takarouna, by Green Dancer) took a competitive maiden at Leopardstown on Sunday by eight lengths.
The Aga Khan’s home-bred saw off 17 rivals to take the seven-furlong maiden in hugely impressive style.
Oxx told www.racingpost.com: “He did that well and wéll look at stakes level next season. He is an athletic type of horse and I wasn’t sure, given the way he moves, that this ground would suit.”
The Racing Post’s race readers were hugely taken with the performance and the paper’s analysis added: “He found plenty when hitting the front and produced a performance that entitles his connections to dream of Group glory next season. John Oxx was wary of saying he will be a Guineas horse but he was certainly not ruling it out. He handled the ground well and is a really powerful traveller in his races.”
