There was an emotional success for trainer Fred Kersley on Saturday when Lite’n In My Veins (4g Henrythenavigator x Beauty World, by Danehill Dancer) came home first in the G3 Northerly Stakes at Ascot on Saturday.
The well-backed favourite was winning in a race named after Kersley’s brilliant performer Northerly, whose successes included two Caulfield Cups and a Cox Plate.
And Kersley is hoping that Lite’n In My Veins, a four-year-old son of Henrythenavigator, can himself now step up to the top grade. Next month’s G1 Railway Stakes is a likely target.
“It brings back great memories. He’s not another Northerly but he’s a great horse,” said Kersley.
“I’ve always said we’ll take it one step at a time with this horse. I’m prepared to be more patient and take the races as they come. There’s no one goal, we’ll just do the right thing by the horse.”
