Petit Chevalier takes black-type for High Chaparral

Trainer William Mongil was celebrating his first Listed success when Petit Chevalier (5g High Chaparral-Pivoline, by Pivotal) captured the Grand Prix de Compiegne at Compiegne on Tuesday.

The son of High Chaparral, who already boasted a G3 placing, took the 10-furlong contest in good style by a length and three-quarters for owner-breeders Gestut Hachtsee.

“Petit Chevalier could have gone for a Group 3 in Germany but we thought this looked an easier task and the decision paid off,” Mongil told FDN.
