The Henry Candy-trained Codemaster (3c Choisir-Verbal Intrigue, by Dahar) looked a high-class prospect after easily winning Newmarket’s Listed King Charles II Stakes on his seasonal comeback on Saturday.
The G3 Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot is next on the agenda for the Choisir colt, who was bred by J Byrne and partners and also scored by six lengths as a two-year-old at Newmarket last year.
“He only just coped with the ground and kept changing his legs. Dane (O’Neill) just let him do it which was the right thing to do,” Candy told www.racingpost.com
“Dane says that he has every right to go to the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot. It’ll be a big step up but he will like the track and we’ll have a go.”
