Sentaril (3f Danehill Dancer-Superstar Leo, by College Chapel) earned a deserved black-type victory at Lingfield on Thursday when seeing off some classy rivals to win the Listed EBF Normandie Stud Fleur De Lys Fillies’ Stakes.
The Lael Stables home-bred is by Danehill Dancer out of the star sprinter Superstar Leo and had been beaten only a length when second in the G3 Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Trainer William Haggas’s wife Maureen told PA Sport: “It always looked like she wanted further. We didn’t really believe that she did, but this was her first time over a mile and she did it well. Graham (Lee) gave her a lovely ride and got her nice and relaxed. It was quite a messy race, but she stuck her head down and got on with it. I would think we’ll call it a day, but I’ll have to speak to William. She stays in training next year.”
