Storm rises to victory for Canford Cliffs

Storm Rising (Canford Cliffs) winning at Newbury

The unstoppable Canford Cliffs had yet another smart juvenile winner on Friday when the Richard Hannon-trained Storm Rising (2c Canford Cliffs-Before The Storm, by Sadler´s Wells) took a smart Newbury maiden on his debut on Friady.

The Barouche Stud-bred colt, an entry in the G1 Racing Post Trophy, came home a length and a quarter clear of his competition in the seven-furlong maiden.

Jockey Pat Dobbs felt that the rain-softened ground was far from ideal for Storm Rising. “He is very straightforward and that´s not the ground he wants, he´s a good-moving horse. His homework has been very good so it wasn´t unexpected,” Dobbs told the Racing Post.
