UAE Derby target for Thewayyouare 2yo debut winner

Unorthodox (Thewayyouare) cantering to the start before winning at Dundalk

Trainer John Murphy is hoping that Thewayyouare could sire a second successive G2 UAE Derby winner in March following an impressive debut success for Unorthodox (2g Thewayyouare-Aspasias Tizzy, by Tiznow) on Friday night.

The smart juvenile saw off 13 rivals to land a mile maiden at Dundalk and Murphy is now considering a trip to Meydan next year.

The 2014 G2 UAE Derby was won by the brilliant Toast Of New York (3c Thewayyouare-Claire Soleil, by Syncline), whose earnings now stand at over £1.4 million following his runner-up effort in the G1 Breeders’ Cup Classic last weekend.

Murphy is hoping Unorthodox, who was bred by J C Carr, can take the same path and told the Racing Post: “He’s a fair horse and could be anything. He was slow to come to hand and wasn’t ready to run until now. He could be one for the UAE Derby in March as he has the pedigree for that sort of surface.”
