$1.95 Million Paris Bikini Leads Mares In-Foal to Uncle Mo

The dam of Grade I winner Paris Lights, Paris Bikini sold in-foal to Uncle Mo for $1.95 million to Katsumi Yoshida at Fasig-Tipton’s November Sale on Sunday night.

Consigned by Taylor Made Sales, the Bernardini mare is a half-sister to Grade III winner and Grade I-placed America out of the stakes-placed mare Lacadena. Lacadena herself is a half-sister to stakes placed Sapphire Pendant and Asama Blue. Their dam Butterfly Blue is out of bluehen broodmare Blush With Pride.

"I like Uncle Mo and he is showing very good performance in Japan as well," said Northern Farm’s Shingo Hashimoto. "(The price) was pretty strong, but I think it was a good price. We're seeing how it goes and play it by ear and see where we can do the best."

The foal Paris Bikini is carrying is bred on the same Uncle Mo x Bernardini cross as Grade I winner Mo Town and Grade II winners Mopotism and Modernist among 13 winners.

Uncle Mo also saw mares carrying his foals sell for $600,000, $450,000, ect. while his daughter Bast was the fourth most expensive offering of the sale when bringing $4.2 million in foal to Justify.
