$120,000 Colt for Practical Joke
A half-brother to two stakes placed runners was the latest weanling to sell for six-figures for Practical Joke on Friday when bringing $120,000 from de Meric Stables.
Consigned by Mulholland Springs, the Tom Grether Farms-bred colt is out of Usrah and hails from the important Imagining family. Usrah has produced Lookin At Lucky’s stakes placed Protective Shield and stakes placed Dawly as two of her three winners and is the daughter of Serena’s Sister, a half-sister to Champion Serena’s Song.
Serena’s Sister has quickly become an influential mare as the dam or granddam of six graded stakes winners including Group 1 winner Zabeel Prince. The mare’s daughter Princess Serena is also the granddam of Grade I-winning Rizeena.
A three-time Grade I winner, Practical Joke’s first weanlings have been in high demand with the sale topper at the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Sale kicking off a bevy of high-priced weanlings for the first-crop sire.
