$125,000 Filly Leads Another Big OBS Session for Cupid
It was another banner day for Cupid on Thursday at the OBS Spring Sale of 2-Year-Olds when seeing two of his 2-year-olds bring over 20 times his stud fee.
That duo was led by the $125,000 filly out of Comfort and Joy purchased by Little Red Feather Race with agent John Dowd signing the ticket.
Offered by Mayberry Farm, the filly is a half-sister to the stakes winner and Grade III-placed Giza Goddess out of a half-sister to multiple Grade III winner The Pamplemousse. Comfort And Joy is also a half-sister to stakes winner American Lady, Grade II-placed Emmzy, and stakes-placed Thermostat.
Bred by Clarkland Farm, the filly had also sold for $65,000 last September for her breeders.
Dennis O’Neill was the winning bidder on the $100,000 colt out of Everything Sweet offered by Randy Miles.
That colt is out of a half-sister to multiple graded stakes Fantastic Style with another half-sister producing multiple stakes winner Capocostello. Also from the family of stakes winner and Grade III-placed Vague and multiple stakes placed Going For A Spin, the colt was bred by C. and B. Kidder, N. Cole and E. Voute, and was going through the ring for the third time after selling for $60,000 as a short yearling and $87,000 as a Keeneland September yearling offering.
It’s been a big OBS for Cupid, who has seen seven juveniles sell for over 10 times his stud fee at OBS, led by a $440,000 filly for an average of $106,818 for 11 sold through Thursday.
