$130,000 Colt for Mendelssohn at Keeneland January
A Mendelssohn colt from the family of Broodmare of the Year and multiple Grade I winner Take Charge Lady sold for $130,000 to Rosemont Farm 2020, LLC during Tuesday’s session of the Keeneland January Sale.
Offered by Blandford Stud and bred by Peter Berglar Racing Interests and Paget Bloodstock, the bay colt is out of a half-sister to multiple Grade II-placed Northern Giant. The colt combines two of the top families in the stud book with the colt’s dam Shannon Faith a granddaughter to top broodmare Felicita. Felicita is the dam of multiple Grade I winner and Broodmare of the Year Take Charge Lady, stakes winner and Grade III-placed Commendation, and multiple stakes winner Eventail.
Take Charge Lady is the dam of champion Will Take Charge and Grade I winner Take Charge Indy with her daughter Charming producing champion Take Charge Brandi and multiple Grade I winner Omaha Beach. Felicita daughter Eventail is the dam of Grade III winner Straight Story and Japanese stakes winner Strong Southern.
