$485,000 Mare for Mendelssohn at Keeneland November
WinStar Farm and Lindy Farm went to $485,000 to purchase a Mendelssohn daughter from the Gainesway consignment at this year’s Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale.
Carrying her second foal by Tiz The Law’s sire Constitution, Confetti is a half-sister to two winners from two to race out of Acrobatique. That young Discreet Cat mare’s foals include the stakes placed Amusing Antics. Acrobatique is a half-sister to dual champion Covfefe, Group II winner and multiple Group I placed Albiano and stakes placed Going Day.
All three of those mares have produced stakes performers with Covfefe daughter Ellen Jay winning the Glen Cove Stakes after the catalog was released and Albiano’s daughter Avverare also a stakes winner.
Confetti’s third dam is the great mare Aurora, whose runners included U.A.E. Horse of the Year Festival of Light and Grade I winners Acoma and Arch.
Other daughters of Mendelssohn brought $260,000, $230,000, $200,000, etc. during the sale.
Mendelssohn is having a successful year at stud with his 146 winners this year leading all third crop sires and including nine stakes winners and 21 stakes performers led by two stakes placed runners.
