$175,000 Filly Leads Munnings’ Second Day at OBS
The second day of the OBS Spring Sale of Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale was another successful session for Munnings with the stallion’s offerings led by the $175,000 Hip 495 sold to John Dowd for Little Red Feather Racing.
Starting the day with a pair of $100,000 offerings within 10 hips of the start of the sale, his $175,000 filly out of Speculative Bubble sold a few hours later from Gene Recio’s consignment.
Named Julia Maesa, the filly bred by Farfellow Farms is out of a half-sister to multiple graded stakes winners Sum of the Parts and Rocket Heat. Her dam Speculative Bubble shares a sire with the dam of Munnings’ $350,000 filly sold on Tuesday and with Speculative Bubble also a half-sister to the dam of Listed placed Mending Fences.
Sold for $100,000 as Hip 316, Munnings first offering of the day was sold to James Divito from Halcyon Hammock Farm. Bred by Bob and Alice Austin, that colt is from a proven cross as a full brother to Munnings’ stakes winning and Grade II-plaved King Kranz.
Selling only three lots later was the Randy Miles consigned Hip 318 out of Quick Click, who also sold for $100,000.
Purchased by Franklin Ave. Equine and Jonathan Green, the Eric Antonio Delvalle-bred filly is out of Tiznow’s Quick Click and is a great-granddaughter of stakes winner Tap Your Heels.
Better known as the dam of champion sire Tapit and granddam of Grade II winning Madefromlucky, Tap Your Heels is also a half-sister to Champion Rubiano. Hip 318’s granddam is a full sister to Tapit.
Munnings has carried the success he had in 2019 to 2020 with three Grade II winning fillies on the Kentucky Oaks trail.
