$220,000 Filly for Mendelssohn at Fasig-Tipton New York-Bred Sale
A Mendelssohn filly out of the stakes-placed Dorothy’s Aurora brought $220,000 from Joe Hardoon at this week’s Fasig-Tipton New York-Bred Sale.
Consigned by Bluewater Sales, the filly is a half-sister to Justify’s winning Gandolfini from the two to race out of Dorothy’s Aurora. That mare is one of four winners from four to race out of Aurora X F, who also produced four-time winner D’Girlz Dem Sugar.
Bred by Stephen J. Barberino Jr. Accumulation Trust, the filly’s third dam is the multiple stakes winning Madame Roar. She is out of the Group I-placed Madame Saddam and is a half-sister to the dam of the multiple stakes winner Great Mills.
Dorothy’s Aurora returned to Justify and foaled a colt by the stallion on April 20 of this year.
Mendelssohn’s second crop has come out running this year with seven juvenile winners. The stallion also leads all second-crop sires by winners this year with 55, the group is led by a stakes winner and eight stakes performers.
